About Dan

Where it all began

Growing up in rural Northern Ontario, Dan’s passion for all things outdoors started very early. Soon enough, simply spending time in the woods did not satisfy his adventure appetite and in his early teenage years he was able to convince his parents that buying a downhill mountain bike was a good idea.

Miraculously, after many summers of injury free downhill biking he became increasingly interested in the endurance side of cycling and he made the switch to road and gravel riding for fitness and leisure.

Sport

When Dan is not helping clients chase goals in the bike fit studio, he can be found staying in shape at the gym or back in the great outdoors snowboarding, white water canoeing and camping.

Academics

Dan started his education at Laurentian University where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Health and Education, with honors in Health Promotion. During his time at Laurentian, he worked closely training and treating the varsity Cross Country and Track athletes for 4 years.

It was working with these high-level athletes that sparked his interest in pre-habilitation and the importance of reducing the risk of injury through proper training. Following his undergraduate degree, Dan completed a Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University.

Career

All of Dan’s previous experience working with athletes helped him secure his first physiotherapy job working back up north where he specialized in coaching strength and conditioning programs to adaptive and masters athletes.

Now settled in Ottawa and working full-time as a physiotherapist and expert bike fitter, Dan continues to emphasize an active approach to fittings and recovery which always takes into consideration client abilities, lifestyle, and most importantly goals. He believes through physical therapy and proper biomechanics he can help people build the capacity and confidence to move better and ride better.
